First Reader Summary
A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to elementary and secondary education, so as to define certain terms; to provide for a pilot program to allow parents of students eligible to attend certain poorly performing public elementary and middle schools the option of relocating the students to a school of their choice within the same local school system; to provide for legislative intent; to provide for a pilot program of scholarships to allow low-income students who are eligible to attend certain poorly performing public elementary and middle schools to attend participating private schools and adequate local schools; to provide for the amount of such scholarships; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
