Search Help
All search fields are optional except Session, which always has a value. Use all other fields to narrow your search. The more criteria you enter, the more restrictive your search will be.
- Session: Will return all legislation from the selected session.
- Member: Will return all the legislation sponsored by the selected member. This includes bills sponsored in both chambers.
- Committee: Will return all legislation that was last assigned to the selected standing Committee.
- Georgia Code Title: Will return all legislation of the selected Georgia Code Title.
- Bill Type: Will return all legislation of the selected bill type.
- Number: Will return all legislation with the selected number.
- Keywords*: Will return all legislation that contains the selected word(s) in any published version of the legislation (not just the current version).
Example 1:
Bill Number: 1
Will return four matches (HB1, HR1, SB1, and SR1).
Example 2:
Bill Type: House Resolution
Number: 1
Will return only one match, HR1.
Example 3:
Keywords: Kindergarten
Will return all the legislation containing the word Kindergarten in any published version.
Example 4:
Member: Senator X
Committee: Education (House)
Will return all the legislation sponsored by X AND was last assigned to the House Education Committee.
Example 5:
Member: Senator X
Committee: Education (House)
Keyword: Kindergarten
Will return all the legislation sponsored by Senator X AND was last assigned to the House Education Committee AND contains the word Kindergarten in any version.

Normal
List all words to search with a space separating each word. Capitalization is ignored.
[ local tax ] will return all legislation that either contains the word local or tax.

Phrase ("")
To search for the exact words in that exact order without any change use double quotes around the set of words.
[ “local tax” ] will only return legislation that contains the exact phrase ‘local tax’ in that exact order.

Inclusion (+)
To force inclusion of certain words, place a plus sign immediately before the word. The plus sign should appear immediately before the word and should be preceded with a space.
[ local +tax ] will return all legislation that contains the word local and the word tax.

Exclusion (-)
To exclude certain words, place a minus sign immediately before the word. The minus sign should appear immediately before the word and should be preceded with a space.
[ local -tax ] will return all legislation that contains the word local excluding legislation that includes the word tax.

Wildcard (*)
The * is a placeholder for any unknown term(s) similar to what was entered.
[ tax* ] will return all legislation that contains the words tax, taxation, or taxidermy.

Noise
Common words, like 'the,' 'a,' and 'for,' are usually considered noise and are ignored. Numbers are also considered noise and are ignored.
