RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mayor Bob Knox, Jr., on the occasion of his retirement; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mayor Bob Knox, Jr.´s career spanned 34 years as mayor and city councilman
of the City of Thomson; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Knox has served in an exemplary manner with total and complete devotion to
the City of Thomson and its citizens; and
WHEREAS,
many of his fellow business associates have commented that he is a man of few
words, an excellent leader, and often wondered why he did not run for higher
political office; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Knox is credited with making local government better across the state, in
that his efforts to make local government function more efficiently have been a
cornerstone for others to follow; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Knox was responsible for spearheading a building fund for the Georgia
Municipal Association, which in the long run helped save $130,000.00;
and
WHEREAS,
he was responsible for a number of major legislative and appropriations changes
in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he has been active in several local organizations such as the Boy Scouts, the
Harvest Food Bank, and a leader for more than 20 years at the First United
Methodist Church in Thomson; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Knox considers the joint working relationship between city and county
government leaders as one of the highlights of his career as
mayor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in recognizing Mayor Bob Knox, Jr., for his 34 years of service to the City of Thomson and extend to him their best of wishes for his future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mayor Bob Knox, Jr.
