A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and recognizing Mrs. Charlene Sizemore for her role in helping to promote
workforce training in Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Charlene Sizemore of Augusta has long been involved in programs designed to
promote economic development in Georgia through her work as a former chair of
the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the board of the
Georgia Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS,
she serves on other important community and state boards such as the Development
Authority of Richmond County and the Georgia Student Finance Commission; she
has served as chairman of the Central Savannah River Area School to Work
Partnership and as past president of Child Enrichment, Inc.; and is active in
her local Kiwanis Club; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Sizemore was one of the early proponents of workforce training who stepped
forward to encourage the Commission for a New Georgia initiative of Governor
Sonny Perdue following the completion of the Workforce Development Task Force
effort in 2005; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Sizemore was most helpful in the initial efforts by the State of Georgia to
identify available funds to be used in implementing the Governor's Workforce
Development Program; and
WHEREAS,
she met with the Commission for a New Georgia implementation staff and provided
critical insight and encouragement that proved invaluable as plans were
finalized for Georgia's new program; and
WHEREAS,
Governor Sonny Perdue recognized the value of Mrs. Sizemore's expertise and
contributions by naming her to serve on the Governor's Workforce Investment
Board, a key appointment which has allowed her to contribute valuable insight,
experience, and expertise as Georgia initiated its newly organized
program.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and express appreciation to Mrs. Charlene Sizemore for her dedication to
workforce development initiatives both on the local and regional levels and for
the assistance and involvement she gave and still gives to Georgia's efforts to
organize and implement an outstanding state-wide system of workforce training
and certification.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit a copy of this resolution to Mrs. Charlene Sizemore.
