RESOLUTION
Commending
Jim Williams, executive director of the YMCA of Rome and Floyd County, on the
occasion of his retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Jim Williams has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the
vital role that he has played in community leadership and his deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
everyone who has ever been to the YMCA of Rome and Floyd County has benefited
from the unparalleled dedication and leadership of Jim Williams throughout his
35 years of phenomenal service to the association and the communities which it
serves; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Williams started at the YMCA straight out of college under former director
Jerry Bryant and took over as executive director upon Bryant's retirement in
1991; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Williams has had such an everlasting impact on the citizens of Rome and
Floyd County through his efforts to help people, especially kids, through the
YMCA, which serves more than 4,000 members, awards more than 1,800 scholarships
a year, and provides programs ranging from sports leagues to day camps,
gymnastics, and swimming lessons; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state using his
significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and
diplomacy, and his keen sense of vision, earning him the respect and admiration
of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments and
years of devoted service of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be
appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Jim Williams for his dedicated service to the citizens of Rome and Floyd County,
convey to him their heartiest congratulations upon the occasion of his
retirement, and extend to him their sincerest best wishes for continued health,
happiness, and fulfillment.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jim Williams.
