A RESOLUTION


Commending Spencer Colello; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Spencer Colello, a fifth grader from Bryan County Elementary School, has been named a winner in the "Litter. It Costs You." mascot competition; and

WHEREAS, children across the state were challenged to think of a creative name for the campaign's mascot, a bird known as the "Brown Trasher"; and

WHEREAS, among all entries, the 24 children that named him "Buster" were recognized as the winners of the contest; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Education in Georgia organization recognized Spencer as a contest winner; and

WHEREAS, Governor Sonny Perdue announced that the state-wide anti-litter campaign's mascot will be permanently known as "Buster the Brown Trasher" on March 22, 2006.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
join together in commending Spencer Colello for exceptional ingenuity and for his assistance in raising awareness of the environment here in Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Spencer Colello.
