RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Coffee Correctional Facility on behalf of the mayor, city
council, and citizens of Nicholls, Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Coffee Correctional Facility proudly opened the doors for service at its
Nicholls, Georgia, facility in November, 1998; and
WHEREAS,
Coffee Correctional Facility opened with 500 inmates and currently has 1,688;
and
WHEREAS,
the Coffee Correctional male medium security facility employs over 300 men and
women from Nicholls and surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS,
jobs created by Coffee Correctional Facility have been vital to the economic
growth of Nicholls and contribute significantly to the quality of life for the
citizens of Nicholls; and
WHEREAS,
employees of Coffee Correctional Facility help plan and assist with the Nicholls
Annual Family Fun Festival and other local events. Employees are actively
involved with the local schools, giving talks to the students on a number of
issues related to corrections and crime prevention. Coffee Correctional
Facility has vowed to be a community partner and actively assist in any way
possible; and
WHEREAS,
there is a bond of friendship between the citizens of Nicholls and Coffee
Correctional Facility, and the people of Nicholls welcome opportunities to grow
our already deep relationship at all levels including cultural, academic, and
business.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
Coffee Correctional Facility on behalf of the mayor, city council, and citizens
of Nicholls, Georgia, and commend its service to the
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Coffee Correctional Facility of Nicholls, Georgia.
