RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce (CACC) of Georgia was founded in 2006
shortly after the State of Georgia opened a trade office in Chile in 2005
following the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement in 2004; and
WHEREAS,
Chile has emerged as the most stable democracy in South America just over a
decade after reestablishing free democratic elections; and
WHEREAS,
the CACC of Georgia, founded as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, gives
Georgia business owners a connection with Chile and enhances trade and tourism
between these two regions of the world; and
WHEREAS,
the CACC of Georgia has initiated efforts to establish Atlanta and Savannah as
International Sister Cities with Santiago and Valparaiso, Chile, as a means of
fostering business, cultural, educational, and medical exchanges;
and
WHEREAS,
the CACC of Georgia's mission is to promote the free enterprise system in Chile
by assisting businesses as they engage in commerce between the two regions;
and
WHEREAS,
the CACC plans to represent the interests of business large and small as they
pursue and conduct business ventures within Chile and Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and commend the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia for its work in
serving businesses in an area of the world where democracy continues to
emerge.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Chilean American
Chamber of Commerce of Georgia.
