A RESOLUTION


Recognizing Piedmont Fayette Hospital; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Piedmont Fayette Hospital has been named one of the nations's "100 Top Hospitals" by Solucient for four consecutive years; and

WHEREAS, Fayette was one of only 20 hospitals in the medium community hospital category this year, and it is most proud of this accomplishment as it celebrates Fayette's 10th anniversary in September this year; and

WHEREAS, Solucient, an Evanston, Illinois, based health care information company, conducts the 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success Study every year, showing that these hospitals take the lead in setting new national benchmarks for survival, safety, complication-free care, and overall hospital operational performance; and

WHEREAS, this study also reports that these hospitals have improved outcomes and reduced lengths of stay, demonstrating that performance improvement efforts have a positive impact; and

WHEREAS, this recognition is based on an objective statistical analysis of public data resources and Fayette's team, despite budget and volume challenges, continues to maintain top levels of performance; and

WHEREAS, Piedmont Fayette Hospital performs with professionalism and compassion, applying its unique strengths and talents.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize Piedmont Fayette Hospital for its outstanding professionalism and congratulate it on being named one of the nation's "100 Top Hospitals" by Solucient.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to R. Timothy Stack, president and CEO of Piedmont Healthcare.
