A RESOLUTION


Expressing regret at the passing of the Reverend William Houston Preskitt and Mrs. Martha Pittman Preskitt; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Reverend William Houston Preskitt and Mrs. Martha Pittman Preskitt passed away as a result of a tragic traffic accident on Thursday, February 15, 2007, and entered heaven hand-in-hand, as they had gone through life; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Preskitt was born in Wetumpka, Alabama, on August 9, 1925, the son of William Nolan Preskitt and Birdie Thompson Preskitt; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Martha Pittman Preskitt was born on June 20, 1932 in LaGrange, Georgia, the daughter of the Reverend Wallace B. Pittman and Nettie Ruth Pittman; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Preskitt served his country in Germany during the Second World War, and he and his wife labored in the Lord´s vineyards together for over 53 years after their marriage on February 21, 1953 in her hometown of LaGrange; and

WHEREAS, they are survived by their four children, William Houston Preskitt, Jr., Michael Preskitt, Joan Preskitt Hedden, and Ruth Preskitt Vollrath, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, this lovely couple lived together in the service of their God, and their entry into their eternal reward has been long assured and now is accomplished.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body express regret at the passing of the Reverend William Houston Preskitt and Mrs. Martha Pittman Preskitt, and extend condolences to their grieving family and friends.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of the Reverend William Houston Preskitt and Mrs. Martha Pittman Preskitt.
