RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dr. Charles G. Larke; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Charles G. Larke has provided more than ten years of exceptional guidance
and inspiring leadership as superintendent of the Richmond County Public School
System; and
WHEREAS,
since the day he began teaching algebra at Tutt High School in 1969, Dr. Larke
has matured into one of the state's most distinguished leaders in education;
and
WHEREAS,
today, Dr. Larke is responsible for approximately 6,000 employees in 59 schools,
where his leadership affects the educational growth of approximately 35,000
students in Richmond County; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Larke has been honored throughout his career as an outstanding educator and
administrator, earning such awards as the Richmond County Board of Education
Administrator of the Year Award for 1989 and 2002, the Presidential Alumni Award
from Paine College, the Presidential Award for Outstanding Service from the
Augusta Chapter of the 100 Black Men of America, the Living Legend Award from
the Broadway Baptist Church, the Voyager Expanded Learning Honors Award, and the
Martin Luther King, Jr., Education Award; and
WHEREAS,
he is an active member of the community, serving as a member of such civic
organizations as the Georgia Workforce Investment Board, the Richmond-Burke
Workforce Investment Board, the Richmond-Burke Job Training Authority, the
Augusta-Richmond County Partnership Council, the American Red Cross, St.
Catherine Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and Tabernacle Baptist Church;
and
WHEREAS,
his unshakable devotion to student achievement and overall excellence in
education merits the highest of
praise.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Dr. Charles G. Larke for his outstanding service to Richmond County and the State of Georgia, commend his sincere devotion to the students within his care, and extend to him their best of wishes for his future health and fulfillment.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
