A RESOLUTION


Commending Dr. Michael Williams; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Sharon O'Prey wanted her daughter, Adrienne, to have typical teenage experiences in spite of her cognitive disability, including the satisfaction of having a job; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Michael Williams agreed to participate in Adrienne's development program by having Adrienne work in his orthodontist office as a volunteer; and

WHEREAS, the doctor and his staff soon discovered more tasks Adrienne could perform and trained her in a variety of jobs in the office; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Williams was sufficiently impressed with Adrienne's work ethic and progress that he hired her as a part-time employee to work three days per week; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Williams has exhibited extraordinary insight into the value of providing this opportunity for Adrienne and demonstrating his belief that everyone can be a productive contributor to the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Dr. Michael Williams for his generosity of spirit and demonstrating his belief in the value of every member of the community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Michael Williams.
