RESOLUTION
Commending
Andy Olsen; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Andy Olsen is a dynamic student athlete at Walton High School both as a champion
wrestler and an excellent student; and
WHEREAS,
this peerless performer has received numerous awards and recognitions for his
unparalleled wrestling prowess, including the state championship in 2006 at 171
pounds and this year's state championship at 189 pounds as well as the honor of
Cobb County Wrestler of the Year, despite a knee injury that would have stopped
most wrestling competitors; and
WHEREAS,
this Harvard University bound senior is truly a student athlete of remarkable
skill, discipline, and intellect, committed to being the best he can be in
everything he does; and
WHEREAS,
for his career at Walton High School, he amassed an outstanding record of
197-15, putting him among elite company at Walton High School and throughout
this state; and
WHEREAS,
this stellar young man epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and
character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance and
to achieve academic success; and
WHEREAS,
it is clearly fitting and proper that the superlative skills and outstanding
merits of this accomplished and gifted student athlete be appropriately
recognized as well as the pride, honor, and respect he has brought himself, his
family, his school, and his community.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Andy Olsen for his unprecedented athletic performance and for exhibiting the
character and qualities of a true champion and extend to him their sincerest
best wishes for success in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Andy Olsen.
