RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the University of West Georgia Advocates Program; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the University of West Georgia (UWG) has grown from its humble beginnings as an
agricultural and mechanical school in 1906 to become a leading university with a
history rich with knowledge and growth; and
WHEREAS,
the UWG Advocates Program is a grass-roots effort of friends and alumni of the
University of West Georgia who work to raise awareness about the university's
importance to the future of our state; and
WHEREAS,
advocates serve as ambassadors within their communities, advancing the
university's legislative agenda, including support for capital projects, and
raising awareness of the university's accomplishments; and
WHEREAS,
advocates cultivate positive relationships with their legislators and other
community and state leaders and help keep decision makers better informed about
UWG and higher education issues.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
recognizing the University of West Georgia Advocates Program, commending the
advocates' dedication to developing positive relationships with Georgia
legislators, and extending their sincerest best wishes to the University of West
Georgia for their continued growth and success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mary W. White, Director of
Advancement Programs and Governmental Relations of the University of West
Georgia.
