A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
Amanda Kozak for her selection as the second runner-up in the Miss America
pageant and her crowning as Miss Georgia 2006; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Amanda Kozak, a 2002 graduate of Warner Robins High School, graduated magna cum
laude from Valdosta State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree
in early childhood education; and
WHEREAS,
she has participated in over 15 scholarship pageants, winning more than $50,000
to fund her education, and she is currently the reigning 2006 Miss Georgia and
the second runner-up in the Miss America pageant; and
WHEREAS,
throughout her reign as Miss Georgia, Amanda has been an advocate for the Big
Brothers Big Sisters of America organization, and in her future career as an
educator, she has committed herself to the concept of "No Child Left Behind";
and
WHEREAS,
she has been a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for more than five
years, and she has recently written
Why I Need a
Big, a book that describes the mentoring
process from the perspective of a child and features illustrations by children
in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program; and
WHEREAS,
throughout her years of travel and competition, Amanda Kozak has displayed
confidence, adaptability, and self-reliance, virtues that she will undoubtedly
share with the youth and future leaders of Georgia and the United
States.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor
Amanda Kozak for her selection as the second runner-up in the Miss America
pageant and her crowning as Miss Georgia 2006 and extend to her their sincerest
best wishes for her future success and fulfillment.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Amanda Kozak.
