Senate Resolution 416

A RESOLUTION


Commending Janice Ramsey for her efforts in creating a writer´s workshop for her students; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Janice Ramsey is currently an eighth grade Language Arts teacher at E.T. Booth Middle School; and

WHEREAS, she has loved to write since she was in fifth grade when one of her poems was published in a national magazine; and

WHEREAS, when she began teaching 12 years ago, she wanted to find more effective and authentic ways for students to learn and she wanted them to connect to the world outside of school and provide opportunities for self-discovery; and

WHEREAS, while Janice was attending Kennesaw State University, she learned about writing through a writer´s workshop format, and she brought that idea with her to E.T. Booth Middle School; and

WHEREAS, many of her former students come back and tell her that the workshop is one of their favorite learning experiences; and

WHEREAS, Janice´s classroom is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the students learn how to communicate in a digital world; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting to recognize the great contributions this outstanding teacher has made to her students and how they will benefit from her teaching.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Janice Ramsey on her dedicated and effective teaching of communication skills to her students.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Janice Ramsey.
