A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mardee Thomas; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mardee Thomas is an inspiration to the Synovus Financial Corporation staff, exemplifying a combination of managerial finesse, sensitive customer service, and a level of candor rarely found in today's competitive workplace; and

WHEREAS, Mardee Thomas was awarded with the James D. Yancey Customer Covenant Award by the Synovus Financial Corporation at its 2007 Chairman's Awards; and

WHEREAS, Synovus Financial Corporation is a diversified financial services company based in Columbus with more than $30 billion in assets; and

WHEREAS, the Chairman's Award recipients are chosen from nominations submitted by team members throughout the company's five state banking network, and each award honoree receives a $1,000 cash award, while a $1,000 donation is made to the Jack Parker Scholarship Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Mardee Thomas was recognized for instrumental leadership in the TSYS conversion team involved with the company's Capitol One project; and

WHEREAS, the Customer Covenant Award is named in honor of former Synovus Chairman Jimmy Yancy, who led the effort to codify the company's commitment to customers; and

WHEREAS, Mardee Thomas has earned the esteem of colleagues and friends and has brought honor to the community and the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in congratulating Mardee Thomas on being awarded the James D. Yancey Customer Covenant Award by the Synovus Financial Corporation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mardee Thomas.
