A RESOLUTION


Commending the Darton College Cavaliers swim team; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Darton College Cavaliers swim team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence in swimming with equal emphasis on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed a very successful season of swim competition by posting an outstanding record, winning two individual national championships and placing third in the NJCAA as a team; and

WHEREAS, the Cavaliers' Erin Colunga won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:40.66 and Aviv Sela was first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:02.09; and

WHEREAS, the remarkable performance of the team marked its continued success, with Darton College now having won four event national titles; and

WHEREAS, under the exemplary leadership of Coach Chris Maiello, Darton's All-American team members include Debbie Antillion Vazquez, Chip Aplin, Roderick Chambliss, Erin Colunga, Melody Eye, Courtney Farrow, Kevin Gillespie, Sarah Gilmore, Kent Lawrence, Michael Midler, Nathan Morris, Chelsie Owens, Jesse Parsell, Zachary Pate, Jenni Ragan, Chris Rojas, Breno Santos, Kristen Schroder, Aviv Sela, and Jack Tiernan; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team and their superb talents; and

WHEREAS, this magnificent team performed with precision during the season and earned its well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement, the quality of its endeavors, and the stiff competition which it presented its opponents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Darton College Cavaliers swim team for its unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Coach Chris Maiello and the Darton College Cavaliers swim team.
