RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Reverend E. L. Sullivan; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend E. L. Sullivan was born on March 1, 1932, in Brandon, Mississippi;
and
WHEREAS,
he served his country honorably in the United States military, including two
tours of Vietnam which resulted in the receipt of a Bronze Medal of Combat;
and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Sullivan accepted his call to the ministry in 1975 and was licensed to
preach the Gospel by Reverend Robert Holston at the Nazareth Baptist Church;
and
WHEREAS,
he has degrees in marketing, management, liberal arts, and theological studies,
which degrees he received from various colleges and universities including
Columbus Technical College, CVCC, and the American Bible College;
and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Sullivan is a certified teacher in the 4th District Congress of
Christian Education, he is past president of the ministers clergy class, and he
is currently the vice president of the Local Baptist Ministers Conference; and
WHEREAS,
he is known for his huge heart, his willingness to always lend a helping hand,
and he is admired for his compassion, humility, and his perseverance;
and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Sullivan is retiring as senior pastor of the Greater Peace Baptist
Church after 23 years of faithful service; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Sullivan is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable
reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the
example he has made of his life, he has made this world a better place in which
to live.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join together to recognize the outstanding career of Reverend E. L. Sullivan, commend him on his accomplishments, and wish his the best of health and happiness for his future.
