Senate Resolution 1078

A RESOLUTION


Honoring and commending Lugenia G. Clark and congratulating her on the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Lugenia G. Clark is one of the finest, most gifted, respected, and experienced nurses in all of Georgia and has steadfastly served to better the welfare and public health of Georgians for more than 41 years; and

WHEREAS, Lugenia Clark is a Georgia native, born in Girard, Georgia on April 11, 1946, to the late Bossie and Mother Ida Griffin; and

WHEREAS, she is an outstanding graduate of Moses G. Jackson Elementary School and Sophronia M. Tompkins High School; and

WHEREAS, this tremendously dedicated public servant received her practical nursing degree from Harris Area Trade School and her practical nursing license in 1966; and

WHEREAS, she used her many talents to care for others in need, always giving graciously of her time and love; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Clark has been a faithful and active member of the Temple of Glory Community Church since 1960, serving as secretary of the Sunday school and trustee, and also as a member of the Pastor's Convention Ministry, Health Ministry, Senior's Ministry, and Servant's Health Ministry; and

WHEREAS, she was a loving wife to her husband and devoted mother to her three wonderful children; and

WHEREAS, on April 19, 2008, this extraordinary lady will celebrate her retirement from Memorial Health University Medical Center of Savannah, Georgia, where she began her nursing career on July 5, 1966; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that this body recognize a woman who has contributed so much to the betterment of her community and the citizens of this state.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body wholeheartedly commend Lugenia G. Clark for her more than 41 years of dedicated and selfless public service to the welfare of this state and congratulate her on the occasion of her well-deserved retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Lugenia G. Clark.
