AN
ACT
To
amend Code Section 33-6-4 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to
enumeration of unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or
practices, so as to protect members of the armed forces of the United States
from unscrupulous practices regarding the marketing and sale of insurance; to
provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 33-6-4 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to
enumeration of unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or
practices, is amended by revising paragraph (14) of subsection (b) and adding a
new paragraph (14.1) to read as follows:
"(14)
Failing to disclose in printed advertising material that medical benefits are
calculated on the basis of usual, customary, and reasonable
charges;
(14.1)
Engaging in dishonest, unfair, or deceptive insurance practices in marketing or
sales of insurance to service members of the armed forces of the United States
and, notwithstanding any other provision of this title, the Commissioner may
promulgate such rules and regulations as necessary to define dishonest, unfair,
or deceptive military marketing and sales practices; or".
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
