A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Part 1 of Article 4 of Chapter 12 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions of grand juries, so as to provide that certain individuals are not qualified to serve as grand jurors; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Part 1 of Article 4 of Chapter 12 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions of grand juries, is amended by revising subsection (b) of Code Section 15-12-60, relating to qualifications of grand jurors, as follows:
"(b) The following persons are not qualified to serve as grand jurors:
(1) Any person who holds any elective office in state or local government or who has held any such office within a period of two years preceding the time of service as a grand juror; and
(2) Any person who has been convicted of a felony and who has not been pardoned or had his or her civil rights restored;
(3) Any person under indictment for a felony in any court in Georgia or any other state in the United States or the federal courts; and
(4) Any person accused of a felony pursuant to Code Section 17-7-70.1."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
