House Resolution 93

A RESOLUTION

Commending musician and conservationist Chuck Leavell and inviting him to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Chuck Leavell is a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2004; and

WHEREAS, he has worked with such illustrious artists as The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, the Allman Brothers Band, The Black Crowes, Train, and countless others in the studio and on the road in addition to recording three solo albums; and

WHEREAS, Chuck is the noted author of an autobiography, Between Rock and a Home Place; a children's book, The Tree Farmer; and a book on forestry and conservation, Forever Green: The History and Hope of the American Forest; and

WHEREAS, Chuck and his wife, Rose Lane Leavell, are the owners of the award winning Charlane Plantation, a celebrated tree farm and hunting lodge located just outside of Macon, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he is a two-time Georgia Tree Farmer of the Year and is a fantastic advocate of environmental conservation and protection; and

WHEREAS, Chuck has been recently appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to the "Land Conservation Council."

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in recognizing Chuck Leavell for his wonderful contributions to the world of music and for his sustained devotion to environmental responsibility and the conscientious treatment of God's green earth.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Chuck Leavell is hereby invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for purposes of being recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution.
