House Resolution 853
By: Representatives Lindsey of the 54th, Jacobs of the 80th, Thomas of the 55th, Wilkinson of the 52nd, Geisinger of the 48th, and others

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Buckhead Coalition for its support of the production of Ethanol fuel and cleaner air; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Buckhead Coalition is a nonprofit organization of volunteers that collaborates with other neighborhood organizations to represent the views and concerns of residents of the North Atlanta community, and its mission is "to nurture the quality of life in Buckhead"; and

WHEREAS, the Buckhead Coalition has moved forward aggressively with strong guidance from its distinguished leaders, Chairman David P. Stockert and President Sam Massell; and

WHEREAS, this amazing organization continues to work hard to place the North Atlanta community into an air pollution control movement with a goal of improving the air quality of this area; and

WHEREAS, the Buckhead Coalition is offering $5,000.00 grants to gasoline stations within the Buckhead area to install ethanol pumps, and the federal government is also offering grants up to $30,000.00 for the installation of such pumps; and

WHEREAS, the use of ethanol fuels not only provides cleaner air and aids national energy security but such use also presents a potentially dramatic economic benefit to this state by supporting state industries in ethanol manufacturing, as currently in Georgia, there is one ethanol manufacturing plant in operation, one plant under construction, and three more planned for construction; and

WHEREAS, without such supportive measures as those implemented by the Buckhead Coalition, ethanol will not be readily accessible to the consumers of this state; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that this organization be recognized for its outstanding public service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the Buckhead Coalition for its many contributions to the welfare of its community and this state and commend the coalition for its efforts in supporting the use and production of ethanol fuel.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Chairman David P. Stockert, President Sam Massell, and the Buckhead Coalition.
