RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of Ms. Yvonne Ingram-Ephraim; and for other
purposes
WHEREAS,
it is with the deepest sorrow that we note the passing of our beloved sister,
Ms. Yvonne Ingram-Ephraim, the wife and partner in ministry of Pastor Rev.
Michael G. Ephraim, Sr., of the Sixth Episcopal District, Augusta Georgia
Conference, Wrens-Vidalia District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church,
the Lofton Circuit A.M.E. Church Family; and
WHEREAS,
she lived her life for her Lord and Savior and for her fellows, and she once
stated that her goal was to utilize her skills and abilities in order to perform
all tasks with professionalism and efficiency so as to result in a positive and
productive outcome; and
WHEREAS,
she was actively involved in the civic, religious, and charitable affairs of her
community and gave unstintingly and unceasingly of her time, talents, and energy
to improve the quality of life in her community; and
WHEREAS,
her public service included service as councilwoman and mayor pro tempore of the
City of Sparta, and as an educator; and
WHEREAS,
she also worked as an apprentice mortician, giving comfort to those in their
time of need; and
WHEREAS,
she was a member of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials and
served that organization as assistant secretary and secretary, and she was a
member of the National League of Cities, the National Black Caucus of Local
Elected Officials. the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the National Rainbow Push
Coalition, and the Georgia Association of Educators and the National Education
Association; and
WHEREAS,
her unparalleled organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience
and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her acute sensitivity to the needs
of the citizens of her community earned her the respect and admiration of her
colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
her passing leaves an unfillable void in the community, as she will be sorely
missed by all who knew and loved her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express regret at the passing of Ms. Yvonne Ingram-Ephraim and extend
condolences to her loving family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Ms. Yvonne Ingram-Ephraim.
