RESOLUTION
Commending
Star Corporal Reginald Owens of the Savannah Metropolitan Police Department; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on the evening of March 16, 2007, the family of the late Felix Johnson contacted
the Garden City Police Department in order to request their assistance in
escorting Mr. Johnson's funeral procession on St. Patrick's Day;
and
WHEREAS,
with the utmost efficiency and compassion for the grieving family members of the
late Mr. Johnson, Star Corporal Reginald Owens and officers from the Garden City
Police Department arrived promptly on the morning of March 17 and provided
invaluable assistance in escorting the funeral procession throughout the course
of the day; and
WHEREAS,
despite the increased traffic activity associated with the immensely popular St.
Patrick's Day festivities of Savannah and Chatham County, the assembled officers
managed the funeral procession with the highest degree of professionalism,
despite the short notice; and
WHEREAS,
the actions of these officers demonstrated an admirable level of cooperation
among the various police departments of the Chatham County area, neighborhood
businesses, and members of the community; and
WHEREAS,
as he responded with the utmost sensitivity for the feelings of the family of
the late Mr. Johnson, Star Corporal Reginald Owens brought honor to the State of
Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Star Corporal Reginald Owens of the Savannah Metropolitan
Police Department for his outstanding assistance during the funeral procession
on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2007, and extend their sincerest best wishes for
his future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Star Corporal
Reginald Owens.
