RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team and Head Coach
Mark Richt; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team has established and maintained
a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and teamwork;
and
WHEREAS,
this superlative team completed a successful season of football competition by
posting a record of nine wins and only four losses and ranking in the top
twenty-five amongst the nation´s division-I college football teams;
and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Bulldogs´ successful season led them to the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
This December 30, 2006, match-up between Georgia and Virginia Tech drew a
Chick-fil-A Bowl record and new Georgia Dome record crowd of 76,406 fans to
watch Georgia come from behind in dramatic fashion and defeat a heavily favored
Virginia Tech team 31-24; and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of Head Coach Mark Richt.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team
and Head Coach Mark Richt for their outstanding achievements and extend the
sincerest best wishes for their continued success in the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach
Mark Richt.
