A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and remembering the life of Mrs. Lillie B. Carson Reid; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Lillie B. Carson Reid, a beloved mother to her community and a constant
rock of support for several generations of family and neighbors, answered her
summons for eternal rest on January 15, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
she was born January 11, 1926, in Cordele, Georgia, to the late Jeff Carson and
Mary Lizzie Carson and was the stepdaughter of Mrs. Florence Carson;
and
WHEREAS,
she was united in holy matrimony to Jessie Reid, Sr., on May 11, 1946, and was
blessed with nine children: Jessie, Jr., Florence, Estella, Eleanor, Elizabeth,
Samuel, Lillian, Rosalyn, and Vivian; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Lillie B. Carson Reid was a member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church until
she moved in 1960, whereupon she joined Perry Boulevard Baptist Church, now
known as Norwood Tabernacle, and tirelessly served there on the Usher Board;
and
WHEREAS,
as a long-time employee of Atlanta Public Schools, she became for many children
a second mother, acting as a watchful chaperon and mentor; and
WHEREAS,
she was a Poll Manager for many years and took it as a personal cause to
encourage active and responsible voting in her community; and
WHEREAS,
in her spare time she enjoyed sewing, yard work, and travel; and
WHEREAS,
while she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Reid, Sr., and children,
Jessie, Jr., Eleanor, and Samuel, she leaves to cherish her memory three
siblings, six children, 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and other
loving relatives and friends; and
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has lost one of its most beloved citizens with the passing of Mrs. Lillie B. Carson Reid.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mrs.
Lillie B. Carson Reid and extend their most sincere condolences to her
family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mrs. Lillie B. Carson Reid.
