A RESOLUTION


Commending Bobby Elrod; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Bobby Elrod has been a driver with Roadway for 33 years, 20 years in Ringgold, Georgia, and 13 years in Nashville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Elrod has achieved the elite status of having driven 4 million miles without a preventable accident and will be honored for his achievement at a safety breakfast on January 29, 2007, at which he will receive awards honoring his dedication to safety; and

WHEREAS, he is a resident of Chickamauga, Georgia, and is married to Martha Elrod, his wife of 48 years, and together they have two sons and four grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, he is an avid Indy race car fan and participates as a transport driver for Indy race car teams and is a charter member of the Chattanooga Valley Lions Club and a retired assistant fire chief of the Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, Fire Department/Chattanooga Valley Division, having helped found the first fire department in the Chattanooga Valley in the late 1960's; and

WHEREAS, he has a strong commitment to safety and has always been actively involved in training and mentoring new employees in the Roadway system; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the accomplishments of this outstanding individual be recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Bobby Elrod on achieving the elite status of driving 4 million miles without a preventable accident for Roadway and on his commitment to safety and extend to him their best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bobby Elrod.
