RESOLUTION
Honoring
and celebrating Mrs. Janet Cowan on the grand occasion of her 90th birthday; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Janet Cowan entered this world on March 2, 1917; and
WHEREAS,
she moved to Georgia in 1955 and has made this state her home for more than 50
years; and
WHEREAS,
she has been a devoted wife to her husband, Mr. Richard G. Cowan, whom she
married in 1942;
WHEREAS,
Janet Cowan is a loving mother to her four children, Richard Cowan, Donald
Cowan, Mary Ellen Rundus, and Michael Cowan; and
WHEREAS,
she has passed on the wisdom and values that have served her well to her
wonderful children, as well as to her nine grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
as an active citizen within her community, she faithfully served as a member of
the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Macon, Georgia, from 1955 until 1976 and the
St. William Catholic Church in Sandersville, Georgia, from 1976 until 2000;
and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her valuable service to the community and church, she received
the 2000 Bishop Gartland Award; and
WHEREAS,
she stood strong for this country as both a wife and a mother supporting her
husband´s military service in WWII and her son Donald Cowan´s service
in the Marine Corps in Viet Nam and, more recently she has proudly stood by her
two grandsons, Mike Cowan and Chuck Rundus who have served in military service
in Iraq; and
WHEREAS,
she is a remarkable lady filled with much strength of character and grace and
she has a tremendous love for life bringing joy to all those who come into
contact with her through her sweet and loving spirit; and
WHEREAS,
March 2, 2007, will mark the 90th birthday of this graceful and distinguished
lady, which she will celebrate with her friends and family who love and cherish
her dearly.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring Mrs. Janet Cowan and send their heartfelt
congratulations and best wishes on the 90th birthday of this wonderful
citizen.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Janet
Cowan.
