RESOLUTION
Commending
the Greenbrier High School baseball team on winning the 2006 Class AAAA State
Baseball Championship and inviting them to appear before the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Greenbrier High School baseball team has established and maintained a proud
tradition of excellence, completing another superlative season of baseball
competition, posting an amazing 35-1 record; and
WHEREAS,
the Wolfpack powered their way through the state playoffs and, as a fitting
finale to their remarkable 2006 campaign, the team captured the Class AAAA State
Baseball Championship; and
WHEREAS,
the Greenbrier High School baseball team was ranked 12th in nation by
USA Today
and 8th in the nation by
Sports
Illustrated; and
WHEREAS,
this victory was the culmination of a season of hard work and exceptional
teamwork by the following young athletes: Jeff Rowland, Jamie Tucker, Michael
Hester, Adam King, Matt King, Rich Poythress, Josh Deeves, Cal Morris, Rafael
Parks, Brandon Cumpton, Chris Johnson, Alan Lanier, Taylor Adams, Damien Lucree,
Patrick McGowan, Tim Thornhill, Ryan Cato, Russ Winter, Kyle Waddell, Nolan
Belcher, Allison Dukes, Kayla Adams; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of Head Coach Ed Williams and Coaches Garrett Black,
Mike Jones, and Alex Box; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision during the season and earned its
well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic
achievement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Greenbrier High School baseball team for its unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the coaches and the players of the Greenbrier High
School baseball team are invited to the House of Representatives for purposes of
being recognized by the House and receiving appropriate copies of this
resolution at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House.
