RESOLUTION
Commending
the Partnership for Health and Accountability; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Partnership for Health and Accountability was established in January, 2000,
in an effort to bring together hospitals, physicians, nurses, pharmacists,
pharmaceutical manufacturers, the business community, policy leaders, and
consumers to share data, resources, and expertise to ensure quality care and
patient safety; and
WHEREAS,
the Partnership for Health and Accountability is recognized nationally for its
leadership in improving quality of care and patient safety and has been the
model for other states; and
WHEREAS,
the Partnership provides a forum of discussion and advocacy for data-driven
public policy that promotes the use of clinical evidence based best practices,
coordination of care, expansion of health care coverage, and access to health
services; and
WHEREAS,
the four major components used by the Partnership to support its goals are
community involvement, data analysis, reports, and a continuous improvement
framework; and
WHEREAS,
as one preventable patient error is one too many, consumers, providers, and the
community must work together and be responsible for making improvements in
health care; and
WHEREAS,
this year, in honoring its ongoing commitment to equip consumers with valuable
quality and pricing information on Georgia hospitals, PHA introduced the
landmark Georgia Hospital Price Check and Hospital Quality websites;
and
WHEREAS,
the websites are the first of their kind in Georgia and aim to be the leading
source of hospital consumer information in the state, empowering patients and
their families to take a more active role in their health care decisions;
and
WHEREAS,
Athens Regional Medical Center of Athens, Emory Healthcare of Atlanta, Grady
Memorial Health System of Atlanta, Gwinnett Health System of Lawrenceville,
Habersham County Medical of Demorest, Kindred Hospital of Atlanta, Louis Smith
Memorial Hospital of Lakeland, Medical Center of Central Georgia of Macon,
Monroe County Hospital of Forsyth, Piedmont Fayette Hospital of Fayetteville,
Redmond Regional Medical Center of Rome, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute of
Warm Springs, Saint Joseph´s Hospital of Atlanta, St. Francis Hospital of
Columbus, and St. Joseph´s Candler of Savannah have received awards for
their outstanding leadership and innovation in quality care and patient
safety.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Partnership for Health and Accountability and Athens
Regional Medical Center of Athens, Emory Healthcare of Atlanta, Grady Memorial
Health System of Atlanta, Gwinnett Health System of Lawrenceville, Habersham
County Medical of Demorest, Kindred Hospital of Atlanta, Louis Smith Memorial
Hospital of Lakeland, Medical Center of Central Georgia of Macon, Monroe County
Hospital of Forsyth, Piedmont Fayette Hospital of Fayetteville, Redmond Regional
Medical Center of Rome, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute of Warm Springs, Saint
Joseph´s Hospital of Atlanta, St. Francis Hospital of Columbus, and St.
Joseph´s Candler of Savannah for the exceptional advances they have made in
quality of care and patient safety.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the
Partnership for Health and Accountability and Athens Regional Medical Center of
Athens, Emory Healthcare of Atlanta, Grady Memorial Health System of Atlanta,
Gwinnett Health System of Lawrenceville, Habersham County Medical of Demorest,
Kindred Hospital of Atlanta, Louis Smith Memorial Hospital of Lakeland, Medical
Center of Central Georgia of Macon, Monroe County Hospital of Forsyth, Piedmont
Fayette Hospital of Fayetteville, Redmond Regional Medical Center of Rome,
