RESOLUTION
Celebrating
the life of Ann Graffagnino and offering condolences on her passing; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ann Graffagnino was the director of the Harris County Library for 23 years;
and
WHEREAS,
the library contained 3,500 books, mostly paperbacks, when she became part-time
director in 1981, and now upwards of 23,000 books are housed in the main
library; and
WHEREAS,
she guided the library through the construction of a new building and the
opening of a branch at the historic Mountain Hill School; and
WHEREAS,
Ann Graffagnino was a pleasure to work with and created a great work environment
and a library that people enjoyed visiting and using; and
WHEREAS,
her goal was to make the library "as good as we had the will to make it";
and
WHEREAS,
the legacy of Ann Graffagnino will live on forever in the friendly and helpful
atmosphere of the Harris County Library.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body celebrate the life of Ann Graffagnino and express their sincere
condolences to her family and friends upon her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Harris
County Library and her husband, Tom Graffagnino.
