A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Kaiser Permanente of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia proudly opens the doors for service for its West Cobb Medical Center on Thursday, March 8, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Kaiser Permanente is the state's largest nonprofit health care provider, serving more than 283,000 members in 20 counties of the metro Atlanta area; and

WHEREAS, the West Cobb Medical Center will provide care to approximately 5,000 members; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of this opening on behalf of the practitioners and employees at the West Cobb Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente is giving back to this local community by awarding $10,000 grants to community organizations to implement programs that improve nutrition and increase physical activity; and

WHEREAS, this Healthy Eating, Active Living Grant is part of a Kaiser Permanente community initiative to improve nutrition and increase physical activity; and

WHEREAS, the Kaiser Permanente practitioners and employees have demonstrated a dedicated commitment to volunteerism by supporting community initiatives such as the American Red Cross, the United Way, the March of Dimes, and Earth Share of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia's staff is thankful to its members and the entire Kaiser Permanente organization, which represents 13 medical centers in this state.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Kaiser Permanente on the occasion of the grand opening of its West Cobb Medical Center and commend its service to the citizens of Cobb County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Kaiser Permanente of Georgia.
