A RESOLUTION


Honoring Amanda Kozak for her selection as the second runner-up in the Miss America pageant and her crowning as Miss Georgia 2006; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Amanda Kozak, a most elegant and beautiful 21-year-old brunette, who gained entry as Miss Valdosta, was crowned Miss Georgia on June 24, 2006, and with great distinction honorably represented this state in the prestigious Miss America pageant; and

WHEREAS, Amanda is a Missouri native who has resided in Georgia the last 12 years; and

WHEREAS, she is a graduate of Valdosta State University with a degree in childhood education and her platform is mentoring with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Organization; and

WHEREAS, as a child, Amanda pretended to be Miss Georgia and Miss America without realizing then that such dreams can come true with perseverance and hard work; and

WHEREAS, winning pageants and being awarded scholarships has paid for her college education, leaving Amanda debt free at the end of her studies; and

WHEREAS, before winning the crown she had accepted a position teaching third grade, but now that she is Miss Georgia, she will spend the next year promoting her platform; and

WHEREAS, she loves the Food Network channel and is the first person in her family to attend a state university; and

WHEREAS, through her dedication, hard work, and perseverance, she stands as a shining example for others and it is only fitting and proper that this outstanding Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that Amanda Kozak is hereby honored for her selection as the second runner-up in the Miss America pageant and her crowning as Miss Georgia 2006 and she is extended the very best wishes for long-lasting success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Amanda Kozak.
