RESOLUTION
Commending
the Armstrong Atlantic State University moot court team.
WHEREAS,
the Armstrong Atlantic State University moot court team participated in the
American Collegiate National Moot Court tournament held January 19 and 20 at
Regent University Law School in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and
WHEREAS,
Adam Morrison and Brian Dotson made up the team that won the national title and
Mary Lauren Melton and Melissa Williams finished in the top 16, while Mary
Lauren finished as the eighth ranked orator out of 128 students overall;
and
WHEREAS,
this team was victorious over 63 other teams including schools such as Liberty
College, Wooster College, and Patrick Henry College; and
WHEREAS,
the teams were coached by Dr. John Kearnes, Professor Becky da Cruz and Dr. Liz
Desnoyers-Colas with assistance from several attorneys from the Savannah area
and particularly Judge Michael Barker and Joe Steffen, Esq.; and
WHEREAS,
a special thanks should be extended to the law firm of Hunter, Maclean, Exley
& Dunn for sponsoring the Armstrong Atlantic State University moot court
team; and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding success of the team is a reflection of their dedication, effort,
ability, and teamwork; and such remarkable achievement is worthy of recognition
and commendation by this body.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Armstrong Atlantic State University moot court team for
its tremendous achievement.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Armstrong
Atlantic State University moot court team.
