A RESOLUTION


Honoring and remembering the life of Mr. Eddie Jones, Sr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Eddie Jones, Sr., a devoted family man and beloved servant of the community, passed away from this life on Monday, January 29, 2007, at the age of 62; and

WHEREAS, he was born March 12, 1944, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Jim Jones and Clara M. Jackson Jones; and

WHEREAS, he was a 1965 graduate of Spender High School; and

WHEREAS, he was a member of Holsey Chapel CME Church, where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board since 1981, a member of the Stewards Board, and as the custodian of the church beginning in 1975 until he retired in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jones worked as a corrections officer with the Muscogee County Sheriff's Department and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Golden Owls Alumni Association; and

WHEREAS, he leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving wife of 20 years, Barbara Rucker Jones; four children; eight grandchildren; three brothers; one aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has lost one of its most beloved citizens with the passing of Mr. Eddie Jones, Sr.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mr. Eddie Jones, Sr., and extend their most sincere condolences to his family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Eddie Jones, Sr.
