RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending, on behalf of all current, former, and future children in foster
care, the vital and unique services of foster and adoptive parents in
collaboration with the Division of Family and Children Services of the
Department of Human Resources; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the family, serving as the primary source of love, identity, self-esteem, and
support, is the very foundation of our communities and our state; and
WHEREAS,
in Georgia there are 12,881 children and youth in foster care who are provided
safe, secure, and stable homes by foster and adoptive families;
WHEREAS,
these foster families, in partnership with the Division of Family and Children
Services (DFCS), open their homes and hearts to rescue children from untenable
situations; and
WHEREAS,
these individuals partner with DFCS to achieve common goals beyond their
individual needs and focus their efforts on improving the lives of children in
the foster care system.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing Georgia´s volunteer foster and adoptive
families for their unfailing service and commending them for the differences
they are making in the lives of young people in Georgia.
