A RESOLUTION


Commending musician Toby Keith; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Toby Keith is a nationally famous country music performer who is noted for the passion and patriotism of his lyrics and for his loyal support of American troops abroad; and

WHEREAS, Toby Keith's records have sold more than 20 million copies, and he is a two-time winner of the Academy of Country Music's "Entertainer of the Year" award; and

WHEREAS, traveling with the USO, he presented the gift of his music to troops stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Germany, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Italy, Guantanamo Bay, and Belgium; and

WHEREAS, since its creation in 1941, the USO has provided morale, welfare, and recreational services to members of the armed forces and created bridges between the American people and the U.S. military; and

WHEREAS, Toby Keith's performances remind our young men and women abroad that they are appreciated and loved with songs such as "American Soldier" which describe the daily tribulations of members of the armed forces; and

WHEREAS, not only has Toby Keith brought honor to his country, he has touched the hearts and lives of thousands of young men and women stationed abroad, providing comfort and encouragement as they served in remote and dangerous parts of the world.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in recognizing Toby Keith for his wonderful contributions to the world of music and for his sustained devotion and inspiring loyalty toward the members of the United States armed forces.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Toby Keith.
