RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of Mr. Jmon Warnock; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the state lost one of its leading citizens with the passing of Mr. Jmon Warnock
on August 21, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
he served his country during the Second World War in the Panama Canal Zone and
was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Montgomery County, and in 1949
he married Fanibel Mixon, and the two shared love for 58 years, raising two
children, Jan and Jill; and
WHEREAS,
for many years he farmed his fields of cotton, tobacco, corn, and soybeans, and
he later took over the operation of Warnock´s General Store in Tarrytown;
and
WHEREAS,
he was president of the Altamaha EMC Board of Directors at the time of his death
and was the last surviving charter member of the Board of Directors of the
Oglethorpe Power Company, formed in 1974 to furnish the electricity requirements
for 39 Georgia EMC´s; and
WHEREAS,
in November, 2000, Mr. Warnock was honored as the Montgomery County Citizen of
the Year for his continuous 52 years of service to his community in the areas of
education, culture, religion, charity, and economic development;
and
WHEREAS,
it is only right and proper that this man of vision and integrity be remembered
and honored.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OR REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express regret at the passing of Mr. Jmon Warnock and extend
condolences to his family and friends.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Jmon Warnock.
