RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Glenn Hills Lady Spartans basketball team on an outstanding
season; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the 2008 Lady Spartans basketball team made it to the Final Four in the state
tournament competition in Macon, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
for the first time in Richmond County history, both high school basketball
teams, boys and girls, made it to the Final Four competition; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Spartans, under the direction of Coach Bernard Bowman, earned a trip to
the Final Four by defeating Cairo 46-36; and
WHEREAS,
the dream of a state championship ended with a loss to Carrollton in the state
AAA semifinals at the Macon Centreplex; and
WHEREAS,
for the season, the Lady Spartans compiled an amazing record of 22 wins and only
nine losses; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this body recognize with particularity
the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary team.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend the Glenn Hills Lady Spartans basketball team
and extend to the team members and their coaches best wishes for continued
success in life on and off the court.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Principal
Jessie Chambers, Coach Bernard Bowman, and the Glenn Hills Lady Spartans.
