RESOLUTION
Commending
the Wilcox County High School Patriots football team; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Wilcox County High School Patriots football team has established and
maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and
academics; and
WHEREAS,
this superlative team has completed another season of football competition by
posting their best record in school history; and
WHEREAS,
the Patriots made it to the state finals for the first time in 52 years;
and
WHEREAS,
they became the 2007-2008 Region 2A Champions and the Class A State runner-up,
earning the number two spot in the final ranking with an overall 13-2 record;
and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of Head Coach Mark Ledford; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision during the season and earned its
well deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement, the quality
of its play, and the stiff competition which it presented its
opponents.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Coach Mark Ledford and the Wilcox County High School Patriots
football team for its unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best
wishes for continued success in the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach
Mark Ledford.
