RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Georgia State University College of Law Student Trial Lawyers
Association National Trial Advocacy Champions; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia State University College of Law Student Trial Lawyers Association
team recently won first place at the Cathy Bennett National Trial Competition
sponsored by Thomas M. Cooley Law School in conjunction with the National
Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; and
WHEREAS,
team members included students Ernessa Brawley, Mitchell Freehauf, Holly
Muehleman, and Zachary North under the leadership of adjunct Professor of Law
Tom Jones and attorney Cheryl Champion-White; and
WHEREAS,
team member Zachary North won the best advocate award for the entire competition
and Mitchell Freehauf won the best advocate award for the qualifying rounds;
and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding achievement demonstrates the team's extensive preparation,
professionalism, hard work, and excellence in trial advocacy; and
WHEREAS,
this symbolic accomplishment occurs as Georgia State University College of Law
is celebrating 25 years of existence; and
WHEREAS,
the College of Law Dean Steven Kaminshine and the College of Law Board of
Governors recognized the team's achievement during a recent board
meeting.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Georgia State University Student Trial Lawyers Association
team for winning first place at the annual National Trial Advocacy
Competition.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia
State University Student Trial Lawyers Association's National Trial Advocacy
Champions.
