RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Yihe Dong; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Yihe Dong, an esteemed student at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens,
Georgia, has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by
receiving a 2008 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
WHEREAS,
this prestigious award, presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with
the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers
across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving
their communities; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Dong earned this award by giving generously of her time and energy to create
a service organization dedicated to mobilizing young people to battle poverty in
their community; and
WHEREAS,
the success of the State of Georgia, the strength of our communities, and the
overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the
dedication of young people like Ms. Dong who use their considerable talents and
resources to serve others; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to recognize with
particularity the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary
individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together in recognizing Ms. Yihe Dong and commend her on her
outstanding service to her community and this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Yihe
Dong.
