A RESOLUTION


Commending the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study was founded and located at the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine in 1957 to investigate unexplained deaths of white-tailed deer across the Southeast; and

WHEREAS, through scientific investigation, the Wildlife Disease Study is committed to determining the causes of morbidity and mortality of all wildlife in order to protect and conserve this important public natural resource for current and future generations of Georgians; and

WHEREAS, the Wildlife Disease Study faithfully has served the citizens of Georgia by providing invaluable support for the scientific management of wildlife to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources; and

WHEREAS, the Wildlife Disease Study has conducted itself with the utmost professionalism while providing its support to the Georgia General Assembly, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and the people of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study is widely viewed as a national leader in the field of wildlife health and for providing professional technical guidance to fish and wildlife agencies across the United States regarding wildlife health and related issues.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to recognize the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study for 50 years of dedicated service to the people of Georgia through the scientific investigation of wildlife health issues and working diligently to provide the latest scientific information to help conserve Georgia's valuable wildlife resources.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the General Assembly offers thanks to the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study for the invaluable role it has played over the last 50 years in the conservation of wildlife in Georgia and across the Southeast.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study.
