RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Jay Davis for his support of the Georgia International Law
Enforcement Exchange and inviting him to appear before the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Jay Davis has outstandingly served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of the National Distributing Company, Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Davis's commitment to his community and others is demonstrated by his active
service to many community organizations and charities as well as his services on
educational boards such as the Board of Overseers for Terry College of Business,
chairman of the Terry College Campaign Steering Committee, and Board of Trustees
for the University of Georgia Foundation; and
WHEREAS,
Jay Davis is also most noted for his tremendous and long-standing support for
the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE) program and for his
service as the chairman of the GILEE board; and
WHEREAS,
with the support of talented people like Mr. Jay Davis, GILEE has been able to
grow and develop first-rate programs for the national and international exchange
of outstanding law enforcement personnel, allowing such expert police officers
and public safety leaders to learn from each other through hands-on meetings and
operations around the country and around the world; and
WHEREAS,
the valuable support of Jay Davis and others has helped GILEE achieve a state,
national, and international reputation as a leader in the exchange of law
enforcement ideas and initiatives; and
WHEREAS,
such an exchange of information has lead to the tremendous growth of effective
public safety initiatives around the globe, thereby increasing national security
and world peace and generally making our world a better and safer place;
and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting and proper that this man who has personally contributed so
much to public safety and security be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor and commend Jay Davis for his outstanding service to the State
of Georgia, to the United States, and to world peace.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Jay Davis is invited to appear before the House of
Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jay Davis.
