A RESOLUTION


Commending Ms. Dianne Long and recognizing her on the occasion of her retirement on February 28, 2008; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Dianne Long has served as a merit system employee for the Georgia Department of Agriculture since November 17, 1975; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Long has been a loyal and dedicated public servant, always helpful and cheerful to the hundreds of Georgia citizens that contact the Georgia Department of Agriculture each day; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Long has served with distinction as executive assistant to the Commissioner of Agriculture and is always ready to accommodate each and every constituent's request for meetings with the Commissioner; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Tommy Irvin has been heard to say that she is one of the most faithful and dedicated employees he has working for him; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Long has two children, Tommy and LaTease, and two grandchildren, Courtney and Avery, with whom she enjoys spending time; and

WHEREAS, upon retirement she plans to take a trip to Canada, and she is looking forward to not having to wake up at 4 A.M. each morning in order to reach the office by 6:30 A.M.; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Long is a tried and true University of Georgia Bulldog fan and supporter and attends every football game, home and away; and

WHEREAS, she will be missed by her many friends and colleagues at the Department of Agriculture, and each wishes her well in her retirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ms. Dianne Long for her loyal and dedicated service to the State of Georgia and the Department of Agriculture, recognize her on the occasion of her retirement, and wish her well in the years to come.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Dianne Long.
