RESOLUTION
Commending
the Partnership for Health and Accountability; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) was established in January,
2000, in an effort to bring together hospitals, physicians, nurses, pharmacists,
pharmaceutical manufacturers, the business community, policy leaders, and
consumers to share data, resources, and expertise to ensure quality care and
patient safety; and
WHEREAS,
the Partnership for Health and Accountability is recognized nationally for its
leadership in improving quality of care and patient safety and has been the
model for other states; and
WHEREAS,
the Partnership provides a forum of discussion and advocacy for data-driven
public policy that promotes the use of clinical evidence based best practices
and coordination of care; and
WHEREAS,
the four major components used by PHA to support its goals are community
involvement, data analysis, reports, and a continuous improvement framework;
and
WHEREAS,
as one preventable patient error is one too many, consumers, providers, and the
community must work together and be responsible for making improvements in
health care; and
WHEREAS,
in honoring its ongoing commitment to equip consumers with valuable quality and
pricing information on Georgia hospitals, PHA continues to improve its landmark
Georgia Hospital Quality Check and Georgia Hospital Price Check websites by
creating an infection prevention section in the Quality Check website;
and
WHEREAS,
the websites are the first of their kind in Georgia and aim to be the leading
source of hospital consumer information in the state, empowering patients and
their families to take a more active role in their health care decisions;
and
WHEREAS,
Cartersville Medical Center of Cartersville, Emory Eastside Medical Center of
Snellville, Emory Johns Creek Hospital of Duluth, Emory University Hospital of
Atlanta, Habersham County Medical Center of Demorest, Hughston Orthopedic
Hospital of Columbus, Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia, The Medical
Center of Columbus, Monroe County Hospital of Forsyth, North Fulton Regional
Hospital of Roswell, Peach Regional Medical Center of Fort Valley, Perry
Hospital of Perry, Polk Medical Center of Cedartown, Redmond Regional Medical
Center of Rome, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation of Warm
Springs, Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, St. Francis Hospital of Columbus,
St. Joseph's and Candler Hospitals of Savannah, and WellStar Cobb Hospital of
Austell have received awards for their outstanding leadership and innovation in
quality care and patient safety.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Partnership for Health and Accountability and Cartersville
Medical Center of Cartersville, Emory Eastside Medical Center of Snellville,
Emory Johns Creek Hospital of Duluth, Emory University Hospital of Atlanta,
Habersham County Medical Center of Demorest, Hughston Orthopedic Hospital of
Columbus, Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia, The Medical Center of
Columbus, Monroe County Hospital of Forsyth, North Fulton Regional Hospital of
Roswell, Peach Regional Medical Center of Fort Valley, Perry Hospital of Perry,
Polk Medical Center of Cedartown, Redmond Regional Medical Center of Rome,
Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation of Warm Springs, Saint
Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, St. Francis Hospital of Columbus, St. Joseph's and
Candler Hospitals of Savannah, and WellStar Cobb Hospital of Austell for the
exceptional advances they have made in quality of care and patient
safety.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the
above-mentioned organizations.
