RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and honoring the life of Georgia State Patrolman Michael Fortson and inviting
his family to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Georgia State Patrolman Michael "Mike" Fortson joined the Georgia State Patrol
in 1986 as a trooper cadet; and
WHEREAS,
he graduated with the 62nd Georgia State Patrol Trooper School in 1988 and was
assigned to the Georgia State Patrol headquarters in Gainesville;
and
WHEREAS,
in 1999 he transferred to Executive Security with the Georgia State Patrol;
and
WHEREAS,
from 2002 until 2004, he was a part of the Metro Fugitive Squad;
and
WHEREAS,
in 2004, he returned to Executive Security and had a distinguished career
working for Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor, Governor Roy Barnes, and current
Governor Sonny Perdue; and
WHEREAS,
he will be missed by his fellow troopers, his business associates, his many
friends, and especially his wife, Kathleen, and sons Shawn and
Michael.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and honor the life of Georgia State Patrolman Michael "Mike"
Fortson and invite his family to appear before the House of Representatives at a
date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for the purposes of being
recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution.
