A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and commending Mr. Joseph Addison; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Joseph Addison came into this world on August 27, 1925 in Hampton County, South
Carolina, the sixth of eight children of Mary Jane and Mose Addison;
and
WHEREAS,
he moved to Georgia when he was just four years of age and has been a valued
citizen of this state ever since; and
WHEREAS,
this member and past vice president of the Georgia Independent Auto Dealers
Association (GIADA) honed his entrepreneurial skills by trying his hand at
running his own cab company and service station before opening up his first
automobile dealership in 1969; and
WHEREAS,
although he experienced many hardships and struggles growing up, he strongly
believes that those experiences enable him to enjoy his accomplishments of
today, which include owning four dealerships in the Savannah area and having
received numerous awards such as the GIADA Statesman Award in 2002, the GIADA
Quality Dealer Award in 1994, the GIADA Wheel Club Award in 2004, the NIADA
Eagle Award in 2004, and the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum W.W. Law
Award in 2005; and
WHEREAS,
this gentleman has changed many lives by working to create new jobs and build
strong and safe communities; and
WHEREAS,
this devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and successful businessman
serves as an inspiration for others with his motto, "If I can do it, so can
you"; and
WHEREAS,
in all that he is and all that he does, Mr. Addison truly sets a higher bar for
the rest of us; therefore it is abundantly fitting and proper that the
outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately
recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor and commend Joseph Addison for his significant contributions and
service as a business and community leader and as an outstanding citizen for the
City of Savannah and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Joseph
Addison.
